Estate Argyros: Winery

Argyros Estate Winery was founded in 1903 by Georgios Argyros in the village of Mesa Sonia. Traditional Santorini winemaking methods have been used to produce quality wines for local markets.

The winery is managed by Yiannis Argyros, who represents the third generation Argyros winemakers. A lover of wine in every sense of the word, Giannis worked hard to grow high-quality grapes to create some of the best wines in Greece. The grapes grown here include many of the local and ancient Santorini varieties, such as Assyrtiko, Aidani, Mandilaria, Marathira and Vudomato, which are well adapted to the volcanic soil of the island.

Some of the best wines from Argyros include a variety of dry whites and dessert wines. Assyrtiko Argyros, a dry white wine produced from the Assyrtiko variety according to seafood and has won several international awards.

Argyros was also selected by Wine & Spirits Magazine as one of the top 100 wineries in 2005 and 2006.
